2010 Tornado - Lake Township

For those of you with Facebook, please check out this facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Helping-the-victims-of-the-June-2010-Tornado-in-Lake-Township/109680255744968

This page lists specific needs and requests for volunteers at specific sites ranging from Lake Township to Millbury, Williston, Genoa, etc. - wherever help is needed.  For instance, right now they need replacement chain saws which can be dropped off at Main Street Church in Millbury.  Eighteen inch chains seems to be the most common need.  The volunteers are going through their own chains quickly and don't have time to sharpen or replace broken ones.  There was a request by a family for dishes and pots and pans.  There was a request for 100 volunteers on Sunday to clean a field.  There is a request for old pictures of classes from Lake High School as they try to recreate some archives.  If you don't have Facebook, I will continue to post needs here.

Victory Garden for PCU Food Bank

Look across Elm Street into the back yard of Yarn Craven and you will see a garden.  This has been built and planted by many people, however, we still need volunteers to weed and water through the summer.  The Youth Group will take Sundays, but we need some people to stop at other times.  The produce from the garden will go to supplement nonperishable goods at PCU's Food Bank.  We hope to "grow" this project each year.

Migrant Health Fair

Don't Forget to volunteer to work at the Migrant Health Fair in Woodville at the end of June.  Signup sheets are in Fellowship Hall.  Help is needed for the evening shift.

We also need donations of items - see lists in newsletter and bulletin.  Cash is always acceptable.

PCU Food Bank

PCU continues to need your donations of items (mashed potatoes this month) or cash.  Make check payable to First Presbyterian Church and memo: PCU Food Bank.

FREE FAIR

Clean out all of that stuff that you don't use and bring it to our FREE FAIR on Saturday, July 17 at 9AM.  Donations will be accepted from 9-10 AM and "shopping" will be from 10-11AM.  The Youth Group and part of PHS National Honor Society will be there to help you unload and carry your items to the appropriate display table.  Help in setting up tables will be needed around 8:30 AM and help with cleanup and "tear down" will be needed around 11 AM until we are cleaned up.  We will be notifying the tornado victims that they are welcome to come "shop" as early as 9 AM and will also be opening the FREE FAIR to all of Perrysburg.  If you haven't been part of this, set aside a couple of hours on that Saturday to witness a miracle.  All items can be donated as long as they are clean, usable, and have some life left.  It's amazing how we can reduce, recycle, and reuse.  You are welcome to "shop" as well.  We will be advertising at Kitchen of Hope and Feed the Families as well as at PCU.  Look for an ad in the Messenger-Journal.

Remember to save your can tabs for the Ronald MacDonald House.  You can leave them in Fellowship Hall. Did you know that Dolly House cooks a meal for RMH every month?

You can also continue to donate Capri Sun juice pouches for the youth group to recycle.

Remember to fill out one of the forms coming your way from Mission Team.  We would like to know what kind of mission work you do.  It may or may not be related to a specific organization, but almost everyone does some kind of "mission" work.  This may be physical work, donating time, specific skills, monetary support, whatever.  We would like to get a clear picture of what our members do and what kinds of mission are important to our congregation.  Also, if any of the groups that you serve would like to present a "Minute for Mission" to educate us on their mission, please let one of the Mission Team members know.  We are currently scheduling these for the fall.

Mission meetings are held the first Monday of every month (except July) at 5:00  PM.  All are welcome.
